PIZZA, HOT FROM THE FORNO!

Who doesn't love comfort carbs, especially if it's forno pizza. I was disposing old magazines. Saved this one article about the pizza. Your pizza toppings can't just be the boring 'ham & cheese' combo, I suppose. 

Pick your Pizza-model:

Pizza no. 1: Pizza Margherita

Pizza no. 1: PIZZA MARGHERITA
Top dough with 2 thinly sliced tomatoes. Sprinkle with 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese and 1/4 cup shredded basil leaves. Drizzle with 1 tablespoon olive oil. Season with salt and peppers.

Pizza no. 2: Leeks, brie & capers

Pizza no. 2: LEEKS, BRIE & CAPERS
Arrange 3 ounces cubed Brie evenly over dough. Top with 1 medium leek sliced in half lengthwise, rinsed and cut into matchstick-size pieces (white and light green part only). Add 2 tablespoons capers and sprinkle with freshly ground pepper.

Pizza no. 3: Pizza fra diavolo

Top dough with 2 chopped tomatoes; 2 minced garlic cloves; 1 yellow bell pepper, sliced; and 1/2 cup pitted black olives. Sprinkle with 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes and 1 teaspoon chopped parsley. Drizzle with 1 tablespoon olive oil.

Pizza no. 4: Pizza Toscana

Arrange 6 ounces cooked sweet Italian sausage on dough. Top with 2 minced garlic, 3/4 cup coarsely chopped brocolli rabe, 2/3 cup drained white beans, 1/4 teaspoon rosemary, and freshly ground pepper. Drizzle with 1 tablespoon olive oil.

Pizza no. 5: Bruschetta

Bake pizza crust. In a bowl combine 3 chopped ripe tomatoes, 1/4 cup chopped onion, 3 sliced garlic cloves, 1/2 cup shredded basil leaves and 2 tablespoons olive oil. Season with salt and pepper. Spoon over warm crust. Serve immediately.

Pizza no. 6: Apple & Gorgonzola

Pizza no. 6: APPLE & GORGONZOLA
Layer 1 cored and thinly sliced Granny Smith apple over dough. Tope with 1/3 crumbled Gorgonzola cheese and 1/4 cup chopped walnuts. Drizzle with 1 tablespoon honey and sprinkle with coarsely ground pepper.

Pizza no. 7: White clam & bacon

Brush dough with olive oil. Top with one 10-ounce can of minced clams, drained; 3 minced garlic cloves and 3 strips of bacon cut into 1-inch pieces. Sprinkle with 1 teaspoon oregano and 3 tablespoons grated Romano cheese.

Pizza no. 8: Pizza al pesto

Spoon off oil from on1 7-ounce container of pesto sauce and spread half of remaining pesto evenly over dough. Top with 2 thinly sliced garlic cloves, 2 tablespoons pine nuts, Parmesan cheese shavings and freshly ground pepper. 

Pizza no. 9: Turkish pizza

Pizza no. 9: TURKISH PIZZA
Combine 1/2 pound lean ground lamb or ground sirloin with 2 minced garlic cloves, 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon and 1/4 teaspoon allspice. Crumble mixture over dough. Top with two tomatoes cut into wedges, 1/2 cup chopped onion and 3 tablespoons pine nuts.

Pizza no. 10: Zucchini & eggplant

Pizza no. 10: ZUCCHINI & EGGPLANT
Brush dough with olive oil. Top with 1 sliced baby eggplant; 1 chopped tomato; 1 small sliced zucchini; 1/2 medium onion, sliced; and 1 sliced Italian pepper. Sprinkle with 2 minced garlic cloves and 3/4 cup shredded mozzarella cheese.
